Japa Mantra and Om Ma-
February 9, 2010, Amritapuri
A beautiful blue-green sea and an evening sun started becomes the background for a new session with Amma. Amma under a coconut tree on the beach of the clinic of Ayurveda. After conducting a brief meditation, Amma replied to a question posed by a Brahmachari.
Question: What is the difference in the practice of Mantra Japa and practice the technique as Om Ma-Sadhana (spiritual practice)?
Amma replied, "All these practices are for us, need to go deep within us. God and the Guru within us. But the mind sees the gross and do not seem to realize the Truth. Amma remembers the story a crow from her school days. A thirsty crow comes across a jug with water in too low for his reach. His desire to quench his thirst, the crow keeps falling stones in the pitcher until the water level increases and you can drink. Because of thirst, the crow made an effort. Similarly, we must work to bring out the knowledge within us. Through our self-effort and attention, we are able to bring out the knowledge within us. "
" In today's world, people pretending to sleep. You can not wake up. Similarly, we are not yet ready to wake up. In fact, the disciple must open the door so they can enter the Master, "Amma said.
Amma kept stressing," The our minds we pull in all directions. Through the only Mantra attempts to focus the mind and through the energy that we gain. Like a magnifying glass causes the sun's rays to converge at a point of such intensity that can produce fire. Through spiritual practice, you can save a lot of energy and use the same to do good for the world. If a normal person can be compared to a bulb, a tapasvi (a serious practitioner) is like a transformer. It can do a lot of good for the world. "
Amma remembers a lawyer who used to have the habit of clicking the pen while arguing a case. The constant clicking used to help relieve the tension and he was able to concentrate and, therefore, has won several cases. One day he forgot his pen and his mental stress gets the better of him, his argument was pathetic and lost the case. The pen was insignificant help to relieve his tensions. It may seem irrational. But he had a practical value. Similarly these spiritual practices help us to ease the mind.
"People talk about Pranayama and say training in rapid control of breathing is good for concentration. If the merger gives rapid breathing, all patients with asthma would have attained self-realization," Amma joked.
He continued, "We need to practice the knowledge and awareness. "Amma also explained how the Ma-Om meditation has been discovered. When she was little, he used to walk on the beach. The ebb and tide and wave seemed But Om Amma. Ma-Om became like breathing, continuously and automatically. So every step along the beach was meditation.
That indicates that there is no point in changing the type of practices, Amma as we are impatient. "People are so impatient. Sudden jump into conclusions. A bird was sitting in a port and wanted to go the other way. We saw a ship and thinking that the ship will take to the other side of the harbor, flew to the tree and perched on it. The ship began its course and, in some it was much at sea. Over time, the bird impatient and began flying in the North in hopes of reaching the ground. After what got tired and flew back. He then tried to fly south. He had to return, she was always sold out. The bird then tried in the east and west and not seeing land was returning to the ship every time. Only when the ship approached the port of others, could see the bird land, and soon reached the shore. If the bird had been patient, have also reached the ground with the ship without flying here and there.
Amma concluded saying: "Similarly, true happiness is already within us. Be strong in practice. Practice regularly. When awareness grows, we come together in that reality, that happiness is within us. "
