Another New Year with

January 1, 2004
Om Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu. This is the prayer that is sung in Amritapuri, and devotees of Amma in the world, as the clock every day of New Year's Eve Midnight Strikes. The collective effect of many thousands of an acutely-singing this prayer powerful for peace and happiness of all beings in need around the world to help purify the atmosphere, contributing to a world of good vibes too accustomed to his own negativity.

Residents and visitors sitting Ashram recite the sacred mantra around the chair in the great hall of Amma, Amma and joined them shortly before midnight. Then, the prayer, as the world entered the new year, Amma has given us the inestimable blessing to usher in a more favorable this year - praying for the good of others.

Amma was quick to point out, however, that although the numbers are changing the year, if we do not change internally, there is no real meaning to say this is a 'new year'. Amma said that real change must take place within us, from our latent eradicate negativity and cultivate positive qualities. This in turn will have the natural effect of changing the world for the better.

Amma has asked her children to offer their thoughts on how we can contribute to the elevation of the world in this new year. Many answers have been given of the heart, but most share a common element: we all strive to practice the teachings of Amma's love, compassion and altruism, because this is the surest way to peace and happiness for all. A devotee asked that we all be willing to serve others as we Amma to serve, and another added to this by saying that his desire is to learn to see Amma in all, so that he does not always come to Amritapuri for Amma's darshan!

Many devotees shared touching personal stories. A person from Mumbai told how he had been meaning to come to see Amma for many years, but never did. He decided to spend this new year, as always with friends, but at the last moment have any idea what this kind of 'happiness' and felt the deep need to seek the source of true peace. So, he immediately took a train and came to see Amma Amritapuri - without luggage or even changing his clothes! Another

devotee from Calcutta laughter and applause as he took the microphone, saying: "I'm sorry, but I brought a lot of time Amma now, for the opportunity to speak directly with Amma in this way once in a unique opportunity . He told of how her family had tried to persuade him to meet Amma for a long time, but always told them that, 'This is your passion, not mine! "But, this past year when he visited Amma's house his family, who finally convinced him to come, at least just to see Amma. He has tentatively accepted, but said that when Amma got out and his gaze met his, he felt a deep surge of love and ended up stay for the entire three days that Amma was there, unable to come off! Now, he said, had the privilege of speaking directly with Amma, crying and begged him: "Amma, do not leave this child alone! Always with me, Amma!"

A devotee said that he thought the fastest way towards peace in the world was for more people to meet Amma, and a girl came up and explained that this was his first time meeting Amma, saying it was a turning point for her and she was dedicated to the spiritual life . Another girl who had just met Amma for the first time on this day came up and said a few words, taking the microphone nervously. He said that before Today, he was too shy even to talk to two people at a time ... and now she was addressing a crowd of hundreds and Amma! She said she did not know he could, and that is the grace of Amma, who gave her courage. His mother then spoke, saying that she was so happy to see his daughter speak with great confidence, and attributed to his faith in Amma. He prayed that this faith and devotion forever in the heart of his daughter.

A student of Amma's College of Engineering said it has made so many mistakes in the past year, and prayed that he can not repeat them. Amma really liked this answer a simple but wise and clapped happily. Two other devotees of Amma songs spontaneously offered, and many others offered tearful expressions of gratitude, one after the other, declaring that it is to live the life that Amma is the lesson we can find real peace and lasting happiness. After listening to all her children, Amma has ordered everyone to sing Slokas Mahishasuramardini the great goddess of protection, Durga.

In Amma's message of New Year, Amma has asked us to pray for suffering humanity, particularly for the victims of the recent devastating earthquake in Iran. Amma said that we must send our heartfelt prayers for the survivors, that their wounds, as well as internal and external, is recovered quickly, and for those who have passed on, that their souls may rest in peace.

With this approach, spiritual, intimate as a great teacher Amma, we just hear his words to heart and live the words with a simple faith. So every moment be new, all bliss is ours, and a lasting peace on earth.

Happy New Year to all the children of Amma, from Amritapuri!
